Alan Cumyn is the bestselling author of the award winning Own Skye children’s novels. He has also written critically acclaimed novels for adults and young adults. He is the past chair of The Writers’ Union of Canada and is currently the faculty chair for the MFA program in Writing for Children and Young Adults at the Vermont College of fine Arts. In 2016he won the Writers’ Trust of Canada’s Vicky Metcalf Award for his body of work for young readers.
Mary Branley is an award winning poet, writer of non-fiction and lives in North Sligo, Ireland. Currently she is writer in residence at the Glens Theatre in Manorhamilton, County leitrim, and facilitator with Kids Own Publishing on 25 titles. Kids Own publishes books written and illustrated by children.
Deborah Kigjugalik Webster is an anthropologist and writer. She grew up in Baker Lake, or Qamani’tuaq, a hamlet in Nunavut. Her most recent picture book is Akilak’s Adventure. When Akilak must travel a great distance to another camp to gather food, she thinks she will never be able to make it. With a little help from her grandmother's spirit, and her own imagination to keep her entertained, Akilak manages to turn a long journey into an adventure.
