HILOTRONS: Mike Dubue and Octavie Dostaler-Lalonde in concert

Edgy, energetic and outrageously catchy.

Open Your Eyes to Music

The Festival closes with an intimate set of HILOTRONS music in anticipation of the November release of their long-awaited new album At Least There Is Commotion.

The Authors

Mike Dubue

Michael Dubue is known to wear many hats with a career spanning 3 decades as a composer and musician, as well as a Juno award winning record producer. He currently tours and plays in Timber Timbre and runs the recording facilities Studio Cimetière, located in a 168yr old Church in Quyon, QC. From working as an FOH sound technician with The Sadies to numerous compositions, countless recordings and film soundtracks under his belt, Mike continues to boldly step outside of the box and defy the parameters and expectations of his artistic output.

Octavie Dostaler-Lalonde

Octavie Dostaler-Lalonde began playing cello at the age of 9. She studied privately with Anik Hébert, and then with Jocelyne Leduc at Pierre-Laporte High School. In September 2004, she began her studies at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec in Montreal with Denis Brott, and, since 2007, with Carole Sirois. She took part in summer internship programs at the Banff Centre, the National Arts Centre, the Domaine Forget—including a chamber music program—, the Toronto Summer Music Academy, and the Orford Arts Centre, which has enabled her to benefit from the teaching of several renowned instructors. A four-time finalist in the Canadian Music Competition, she was thewinner of the 2004 OSJM concerto competition, and also won the Montreal Conservatoire’s concerto competition in 2010.
