When Garnet Rogers and Lynne Hanson met in Ottawa on CKCU's "Canadian Spaces" folk radio program, they talked about their experiences both as singer-songwriters... and as authors! On Saturday, December 10 at Southminster United Church, these two talented artists will be featured both in a book launch at 1:00 pm (admission free) and in a concert at 3:00 pm (tickets $25 at www.folkzone.ca).

"Night Drive: Travels with My Brother" is Garnet Rogers' new 735-page memoir about his experiences travelling and performing with his brother Stan Rogers for years trying to establish careers playing original music. Garnet tells the story in a spell-binding way that somehow manages to be fascinating, heartbreaking and hilarious all at the same time.

By popular demand, Lynne Hanson recently published "friday haiku", a book that showcases some of the poems and photos she has been posting online every Friday for several years.

"Night Drive: Travels with My Brother", Garnet Rogers' 735-page memoir about his travels with brother Stan Rogers, was published by Tickle Shore Publishing in 2016. Born in Hamilton, Ontario to parents of Nova Scotian descent, Garnet Rogers spent many hours in front of the old floor model radio listening to Grand Ol' Opry broadcasts and harmonizing with his older brother, Stan. Two years later, Garnet was playing the definitive 8-year-old's version of "Desolation Row" on his ukulele! He soon started teaching himself to play flute, violin and guitar.At age 18, Garnet was on the road as a full-time working musician with Stan. Lynne Hanson

Lynne Hanson is a poet as well as a singer-songwriter. She recently published a delightful book of her poems and photos entitled "friday haiku".Lynne Hanson's songs are like a favourite pair of jeans – faded and worn through in spots, with some honestly-acquired grit ground into the seams. A Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award winner and Canadian Folk Music Award nominee, Lynne is known for her engaging stage presence, mesmerizing rhythms and powerful songs. She has toured Canada, the US, Europe and the UK, including a tour with toured with Grammy Award-winning guitar legend Albert Lee. Lynne's "River of Sand" album was on Penguin Eggs Magazine's list of the "Top 10 Albums of 2015".
