Indianapolis-based Rafia Zakaria is the author of Veil, The Upstairs Wife, and Against White Feminism: Notes on Disruption, as well as many essays for the Guardian, Al Jazeera, and other publications. She writes a regular column for Baffler and for Dawn. She was the first Pakistani American to serve on the Board of Directors of Amnesty International USA.
