Claudia Mitchell

Claudia Mitchell is a Distinguished James McGill Professor in the Department of Integrated Studies in Education, McGill University where she directs the Institute for Human Development and Well-being. As the founder of the Participatory Cultures Lab, a CFI funded unit which focuses on the study and practice of participatory visual methods, she is engaged in social research with girls and young women to address sexual and gender based violence. She currently leads a SSHRC-IDRC partnership grant Networks for Change and Wel-being: Girl-led ‘from the ground up’ policy making to address sexual violence in Canada and South Africa, and the Women and Gender Equity-funded study, More Than Words. She is a co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of the award-winning journal, Girlhood Studies: An Interdisciplinary Journal.
