HÁvar SigurjÓnsson graduated from Manchester University Drama Department with a B.A. honours degree in 1982. He received his M.A. in Theatre Arts from Leeds University Workshop Theatre in 1983. He has worked professionally in Iceland as a director, writer and journalist since that time. From 1992 to 1997 he was a resident director and dramaturge at the National Theatre in Iceland. Since 1997 he has been a freelance writer and cultural journalist at Morgunblaðið, Iceland's largest daily newspaper. Hávar is the editor of Theatre in Iceland, a biannual publication in English dedicated to the promotion of new Icelandic drama. He is married to Hlín and they have four children, two cats and one dog. In addition to Angels, he has written a number of plays for radio, television and stage.
