nth digri (aka Anthony Bansfield) is inspired by such great oral poets as Sparrow and Bob Marley, and by revolutionary writers like Frantz Fanon and Paul Robeson. With spoken word from a hip-hop angle, this rap poet rocked mics in Montreal with the group Diasporic Afrikan Poets. nth put together an anthology chronicling their work, an underground publication of poetry, fiction, and photography called The N'X Step. Helping to evolve and define a dynamic poetic/musical form, he produced WordLife: Tales of the Underground Griots, a CD compilation of the hottest young black poets, lyricists, and producers in Canada. nth digri's new CD, Tales from the North Coast, continues to expand the field of both Canadian music and literature. He was recently slam master of Ottawa's team at the 2003 National Poetry Slam in Chicago.
