Motion is a potent lyricist, a multitalented artist with the skills to party-rock an audience into a frenzy or entrance listeners into deep lyrics and melodies. She was born in Toronto to an Antiguan mother and a Bajan father with the seeds of hip-hop that sprouted in the city. The vibes of reggae, calypso and soul constantly boomed off the walls at home. Her love of rhythm and beats led her to play the piano, and at age 12 she began putting pen to paper. Motion's first video and single, "Use What U Got," became an anthem, recieving a MuchMusic Video Award nomination and an appearance of he Beat Factory Rap Essentials compilation. Her award-winning site,, won a Macromedia award for best design. She became a host of, Canada's only 24-hour urban station. Motion was the grand winner of the CBC Poetry Face-Off, which featured over 50 poets across Canada.
