andri snÆr magnason, poet, novelist and playwright, was born in Reykjavik, Iceland, in 1973. He self-published his first book of poetry in 1995. His next book was a collection of short stories called Engar smá sögur. The poems in his next book, Bonus ljó, all take place in a supermarket, and the chapters parallel Dante's Divine Comedy - from Purgatory (the cleaning department), into the Garden of Eden (the fruit section), and through the Inferno (the meat freezers). His Story of the Blue Planet, the first children's book to win the Icelandic Literary Prize, has been translated into 10 languages. Andri is also the author of three plays, The Blue Planet, Natures Opera and Run Sibba! You Are Free!! He has two children.
