David Macfarlane was born in Hamilton and now lives in Toronto with his wife and two children. He is a national columnist for the Globe and Mail and was recently awarded a national newspaper award. He has won six gold National Magazine awards and five silver awards. He has written and produced a documentary, Where is Here? for a PBS series on Canada, and won a Gemeni for Place of the Boss for CBC's Witness series. His remarkable memoir of Newfoundland, The Danger Tree, won the CAA Award. Summer Gone, his first novel, was short-listed for the Governor General's Award.
