Professor Jacob Kovalio has been teachig at Carleton University for twenty years. He holds BA degrees from Tel-Aviv University, an MA in Chinese History and a PhD in Japanese History/Studies , both from the University of Pittsburgh. He has lived and travelled extensively in Japan , China, Korea, Taiwan. He was a Japan Foundation Fellow three times and earned Excellence in Teaching Award at Carleton University three times. He is the founder and organizer of Carleton University's annual Japan Evening which has been held since 1995. Among his publications are Japan in Focus, "A.J.Toynbee and Japan," "Methuselah in Tokyo," and the forthcoming book, Japan and Canada from 1945 to 9/11.
