Anne Compton is a poet, critic, and anthologist. Opening the Island (2002) won the Altantic Poetry Prize, and Processional (2005) won the Governor General's Award for Poetry and the Atlantic Poetry Prize. Her critical work includes A.J.M. Smith: Canadian Metaphysical and Meeting with Maritime Poets: Interviews. Compton edited The Edge of Home: Milton Acorn from the Island and co-edited Coastlines: The Poetry of Atlantic Canada. In 2008, she was the recipient of the Alden Nowlan Award for Excellence in the Literary Arts.
