Neil Bissoondath’s fiction has been nominated for and won many prizes, including the Guardian Fiction Prize, the Books in Canada First Novel Award, and the Governor General’s Literary Award. In 2002, Neil’s book, Doing the Heart Good received the Hugh MacLennan Prize for Fiction. His first novel, A Casual Brutality, was longlisted for the Booker Prize. His most recent novel, The Unyielding Clamour of the Night, was published in 2005. Neil lives in Quebec City with his wife and daughter, where he teaches creative writing at Laval University.
